The basic philosophy of any breeding program should always be to breed the best to the best and hope for the best. And it is generally accepted that the influence of the sire is 40-50%, and of the mare 60-50%, towards the resulting foal. For the River Trail Ranch, this amounts to accumulating the best looking and highest performing mares possible. All of our mares must be exceptionally good looking and conformationally correct. They must also be sound and have achieved an impressive level of performance. We invite prospective buyers of our young stock to also view and examine their dams. And by breeding to a stallion like Jetalite Blue Ice, their foals are virtually guaranteed to have wonderful temperaments and good looks. The best results that we hope for are foals that are good looking, conformationally correct, easy to work with, and still have high performance expectations. We are pleased to be able to offer these horses to the general public at a fraction of their perceived value.
Our pricing policy is simple and up front. We set a base price of $1,000 for weanlings, $1,500 for yearlings, and $2,000 for two year olds. Those that we consider exceptional, either from looks or performance expectations, are priced slightly higher. And unfortunately it may be necessary to price some lower. Once a horse is broke to ride, usually in the late fall of their two year old year, it is professionally appraised and priced accordingly. Although no horse is allowed to leave the ranch until fully paid for, prospective buyers are invited and encouraged to play and join up with their selections in our round pen under the supervision of our qualified staff. Also boarding discounts will be given to anyone purchasing one of our horses.
Each horse is given all recommended vaccinations, including West Nile. Plus every horse is de-wormed twice a year and handled on a regular basis. All foals are kept on their mares for a minimum of 6 months to insure they develop properly.
